From
2001 until 2007 Gavin was employed as a Building Surveyor with
the National Trust for Scotland. During this time he undertook
many surveys and inspections of historic buildings; prepared drawings
and specifications for projects of repair, maintenance, refurbishment
& conservation and acted as contract administrator for the
works. He also acted as lead consultant to teams of other building
professionals and project managed major schemes of repair.
Prior to this Gavin worked for the Nàdair Trust where he
coordinated 20 partner groups in the successful development of
32 heritage based projects for Scotland’s Argyll islands.
Individual projects included: the consolidation of historic chapels
on Tiree and the renovation of a croft house on Lismore.
From 1998 to 1999 Gavin was employed by Friends of the Earth Scotland
as their European Project Manager where he coordinated the research
and campaigning work of seven partner groups around Europe in
the subject of the sustainable use of natural resources.
Before this Gavin was, for 11 years, a Building Surveyor with
Post Office Property Holdings based in Edinburgh with responsibility
for post office buildings over a large part of Scotland and Northern
Ireland. Throughout this period Gavin gained experience of managing
a wide range of maintenance, refurbishment and new construction
projects of value £2.5k to £15m. Much experience was
also gained of preparing specifications, procuring building works
and contract administration. |
